Find the best mortgage without visiting banks one by one
Shopping for a mortgage as a visa holder means calling bank after bank, only to hear "we don't do that" or "let me check with underwriting" for weeks. There is a better way: work with a mortgage broker who submits your application to dozens of lenders at once and finds the one that actually wants your business.

This recommendation is based on our assessment of visa-holder lending experience. You are free to choose any lender.
Why Choose a Mortgage Broker?
When you walk into a bank, they can only offer you their own products. If your situation does not fit their criteria, you walk away with nothing and start over at the next bank. A mortgage broker works differently:
Bank (Direct Lender)
- Only their own loan products
- One set of approval criteria
- If you don't fit, start over elsewhere
- You do all the comparison shopping yourself
Broker (Barrett Financial)
- Shops across 140+ banks and investors
- One application, multiple lenders compete
- Finds the lender that actually wants your business
- David does the comparison shopping for you
This is critical for visa holders. Not all banks underwrite H-1B or L-1 loans. Some claim they do, only to reject you weeks into the process. A broker knows exactly which investors approve visa holders, saving you weeks of calling banks and getting nowhere.
The result: one application, multiple lenders competing for your business, and a competitive rate.
Loan Programs for Visa Holders
Through Barrett Financial's network of 140+ investors, David can match you with the right loan program for your situation:
Conventional
Through major investors. Fixed or adjustable rate. 15-25% down for visa holders. Requires a US credit score (typically 680+). Best rates with 2+ years of US credit history. Available in 15 or 30 year terms.
Foreign National
No US credit history required. Accepts international credit reports from Taiwan. Higher down payment (20-30%). Available through multiple specialty investors in Barrett's network.
Bank Statement Loans
Uses 12-24 months of bank statements instead of tax returns. Good for self-employed or complex income situations. Available through specialty investors.
Jumbo
For homes above the conforming loan limit ($766,550). Important for premium Tier 1 neighborhoods where home prices often exceed this threshold. Competitive rates through multiple investors.
DSCR (Investment Property)
Qualification based on the property's rental income, not your personal income. Good for visa holders wanting investment property. Typically 20-25% down.
